Mission Trails: Kwaay Paay Peak

After admiring a spectacular, sunlit San Diego day through the window of my journalism class, I felt compelled to make the most of yet another beautiful day.

I made the decision to venture onto a familiar trail, one I’ve hiked and experienced numerous times before. However, this time, I approached it with a newfound sense of playfulness and adventure.

I opted to head to the Kwaay Paay Peak trail, an extension of Mission Trails. You can find the trailhead along Father Junipero Serra road, nearest to the dirt parking lot. Parking is possible on either side of the road. However, note that the parking lots close at 7pm, unless you’re planning an overnight stay in nature, it’s advisable to park at the dirt parking lot by the entrance to Mission Trails Park.
